When you register for an account for web hosting with us you get your own userid and password in order to upload files to your website and for accessing your email under domain.

UPLOADING FILES TO THE SERVER ON YOUR ACCOUNT

In order to upload files to the server you can either use windows FTP (File Transfer Protocol) or other shareware programs like CuteFTP , WsFTP etc.

In order to upload files to the server you would be required to enter the following details.
1: Server Name
2: User ID
3: Password

For accounts hosted on Linux
Server Name : yourdomainname.com (eg: dotname.com)
User ID : as given to you
Password : as given to you

For accounts hosted on Windows NT
Server Name : ftp.yourdomainname.com (eg: ftp.dotname.com)
Userid : as given to you
Password : as given to you.

Configuring your email client (Outlook Express, Netscape, Eudora, etc.) to read your email :
In order to read your email you would be required to enter the following details.
1: Incoming mail server
2: Outgoing mail server
3: User ID
4: Password


For accounts hosted on Linux
Incoming mail server : yourdomainname.com (eg:dotname.com) Outgoing mail server : your ISP address (eg : bom3.vsnl.net.in)
For MTNL accounts : mail1.mtnl.net.in
For Rolta Net accounts : smtp.roltanet.com

User ID : what you have chosen / set
Password : as assigned to you

For accounts hosted on Windows NT
Incoming mail server : mail.yourdomainname.com(mail.dotname.com) Outgoing mail server : your ISP address (eg : bom3.vsnl.net.in)
For MTNL accounts mail1.mtnl.net.in
For Rolta Net accounts : smtp.roltanet.com

User ID : userid/yourdomainname.com (eg : xyz/domainname.com)
Password : as assigned to you

These are generally the main details required to configure any email client.

Changing Your Password.

For accounts hosted on Windows NT.
Open your browser and type in http://www.dotname.com/support .

For accounts hosted on Linux
Open windows telnet Click on Connect option and select Remote System In the window that appears enter Host name as yourdomain name.com and click on connect. On Prompt enter your userid and password. Upon logging into the server type passwd and click Enter. Now you will be prompted to enter your old password Enter your old password and click Enter. Now you will be prompted to enter your new password. Enter the password which you wish to have for your account.and click enter) (Note : Your password must be atleast 6 characters long and a combination of alphabets and numbers. It should not be based on a dictionary word.

Please note that we do not maintain records of customer passwords for security purposes so please maintain your passwords efficiently. In case you have forgotten your password please contact the support department as per the contact details mentioned below.
